Well, if a picture can say a thousand words, a video can say a million. Do you remember that book "What To Do About Your Brain-Injured Child" that I told you about last week...well, it's the real deal. Within ONE WEEK of implementing strategies outlined in the book, I am rotating in a full circle and lowering myself to the floor with control (from a seated position), reaching out of my base of support, and getting over obstacles to my toys. Within ONE HOUR of starting on my incline ramp (also called an incline floor), I am creeping (i.e. army crawling)!!!!!!!! I have made more progress in one week than I have in my combined 12 months of therapy. Watch the video again and you'll see me using reciprocal arm movements (as well as a cameo by Oly :)).
I would like to thank Eddy Ward, a friend of my Mom's for referring us to the the Family Hope Center in Pennsylvania. From there, my parents found a family in Arizona who took their daughter with Downs Syndrome to the Center (with excellent results). In passing, they mentioned Glenn Doman's book. Glenn Doman has been doing research on brain-injured individuals since 1940, he has helped hundreds of thousands of children. And now, he is helping me. I really think I having a fighting chance to crawl and eventually walk. If you know someone with a brain-injured child (Downs, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, even ADD), find $10.00 and buy them the book! Thank you, also, to Scott Leppla for building my ramp!
Besides those obvious highlights, I got to spend some quality bonding time with my Dad and Oly on Saturday while Mom went to Tucson for a "girls' night" with Aunt Melany. We had SO much fun! Well, I better run, I'm planning big things for my immediate future.

That is AMAZING! I am going to find that book and offer it to some of the families that I work with! I sure love following Vinny and his progress! Keep it up big boy!
Wendy - LOVE listening to how excited you are! :)
Almost brought me to tears! So excited for you Vinny (and for mom and dad)!
YAY! Nice work little buddy!!!
wow - you guys rock in every possible way...that was the best movie I've seen in years!
HI! HO! VINNY O! HOW SWEET IS THIS? WE HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO NUMEROUS TIMES, AND WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR ALL OF YOU. JUST GREAT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK VINNY, YOU CAN DO IT! TESS & TOM
I'm thinking Ole should get a try at it, too, just to increase the excitement! By the way, pulling with the arms and pushing with the toes is the way Brian "crawled" and he could cover some major distance. Didn't walk till 14 mos. Kelly was 18 mos. Erin 16, as I recall. What they did worked so they weren't in any rush, I guess. I was getting pretty tired of hauling Kelly around, tho.
Hey Vinny! You are really cruising now! Your parents are sooooo cool to get you the slide! And Scott is so cool for making it! My mom is visiting from Ohio and she said to say, "Hi!" When she saw you crawling she said that's the way I creeped and crawled, too! Keep CRUISING!
Vinny you are awesome. Thanks for making me cry with your cuteness!
